You can now can claim your Medicare rebates directly from the office via the new Mediclear Eftpos machine when you come in for your appointment. No more inconvenience of queuing at the Medicare office!
Please remember to bring in your Medicare card, referral from your GP because I MUST HAVE THE GP PROVIDER NUMBER! Because many GPs omit this basic information on their referrals to me, it will affect your ability to claim, so make sure you get that information before you leave your medical appointment.

Dr Sophie Henshaw is registered with Medicare. Under the Medicare Benefits Scheme you are entitled to receive up to 12 individual sessions of psychotherapy per year (with an extra 6 if you're experiencing extraordinary circumstances) and up to 12 group therapy sessions per year. One hour consultations are rebated at the rate of $119.80 per session. You will need a referral from your GP who will write a Mental Health Plan for you and initiate item 2710, which is for 6 sessions. If you require an additional 6 sessions you need to go back to your GP who will register you under item number 2712.
*Please note that from November 2011, the government has decided to reduce the number of Medicare rebated psychotherapy sessions available to 10 per year. The Australian Psychological Society is doing its best to challenge this decision, since the scheme has been very successful and has helped many Australians.
Clients of psychotherapy may currently claim rebates from the following health funds:
* HBF
* Medibank Private (MBP)
* MBF
* HIF
* GMF
* Grand United
