Cancellation Policy

I need at least 48 hours' (2 days) notice of your cancellation, otherwise you will be charged for a full session. Furthermore, if you do not pay on the day, you incur an extra $15.  This fee will not be rebatable by Medicare or private health funds as you need a face-to-face consultation to claim back your rebate.  We are very strict in enforcing this policy because it has the following benefits for you as a client:

1.   To get good results from therapy, your attendance needs to be regular and consistent.  Patchy attendance makes for patchy results.  Therefore the policy underlines the importance of the commitment you make to yourself, to put yourself first and work through your issues.  My cancellation policy helps you to honour this commitment to yourself.

2.   We're all human and we all like to avoid pain.  Sometimes when you're feeling distressed you might say to yourself "no, I don't feel like going to my session today" and this is precisely when you need it the most!  The cancellation policy can help to encourage you to attend and work through your issues.  You find it's never as bad as you think it's going to be, plus you will get some relief by the end of your session.

In addition I do get very busy and sessions are in demand.  Your generous notice allows another person on the waiting list the opportunity that they might not otherwise have had to come in for a session.

The policy applies unless you have a genuine medical emergency.  If so, just bring in your GP certificate and I will waive the fee.
